JAKARTA (JP): Police announced Friday they had safely recovered 5-year-old Raisyah Ali and arrested five men allegedly involved in her kidnapping last week.
"There are five men involved in the abduction. They were identified as YN, MH, AMG, YP and DN," said Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Adang Firman.
Three of the suspects are students at SMU 35 senior high school, Adang told reporters.
The kidnappers appeared to have been motivated by economic reasons, he said, adding that one of the suspects had a large debt.
The man, who is thought to have masterminded the abduction, is married to Raisyah's mother religious teacher.
Last Wednesday, a group of men kidnapped Raisyah, the daughter of Ali Said, the chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association. The girl was on her way home from school in East Jakarta with her nanny when she was abducted. (**)
