JAKARTA : A team from the Australian government will come to Indonesia later this month to discuss the extradition of Adrian Kiki Ariawan, a BLBI (Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance) recipient wanted for graft by the Indonesian Attorney General's Office(AGO), an AGO spokesman said.
The Australian government's team and the AGO will finalize the form of the extradition and determine the articles violated by the fugitive, AGO spokesman Thomson Siagian said.
The AGO's anti-corruption team had previously sought the Australian government's assistance to repatriate Adrian, who was suspected of having embezzled BLBI funds extended to PT Bank Surya.
Thomson said the Indonesian government would also hand finger prints and characteristics of the fugitive as well as the relevant court ruling to the Australian team during the meeting.
Adrian, former president director of the now defunct Bank Surya, and the bank's former deputy commissioner, Bambang Sutrisno, were found guilty in absentia of misappropriating Rp 1.9 trillion in BLBI funds in 1997.
The two had channeled the money to 166 businesses/debtors belonging to the same group as their bank but that were not engaged in any real operations."
