SYDNEY : U.S. President George W. Bush announced Saturday his country would provide US$20 million in financial assistance for Indonesia's reforestation program.
The U.S. appreciated Indonesia's strong commitment to protecting the environment, Bush told reporters after meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
He expressed hope that the Indonesian President and other world leaders would continue to promote environmental awareness in their countries.
Yudhoyono said the meeting with his U.S. counterpart was constructive and thanked the U.S. for its support, especially in addressing climate change and coral reef destruction.
