JAKARTA : The Indonesian Military (TNI) has reassigned 129 top military officers, a military spokesperson said Thursday.
TNI spokesman Rear Air Marshal Sagom Tamboen said TNICommander Air Chief Marshal Djoko Suyanto issued a decree, dated Sept. 4, on the reassignment of 129 military personnel.
Those being reassigned include 76 Army, 20 Navy and 33 Air Force officers.
In the reshuffle, 51 officers were moved to other positions without being promoted, 46 received promotions and 32 retired, he said.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's brother-in-law Lt. Gen. Erwin Sujono was promoted to TNI chief of general staffs, replacing the retiring Lt. Gen. Endang Suwarya.
Erwin was previously chief of the Army Strategic Reserves Command.
