Megawati to run in 2009 presidential election

JAKARTA : The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri has accepted the request of her party members to contest the 2009 presidential election.

Elshinta radio station reported that Megawati made her remark in a closing ceremony of the party national working meeting on Monday in Jakarta.

Megawati was the Indonesian President between 2001 and 2004, but losing her post to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the 2004 direct presidential election.
