JAKARTA : More earthquakes could occur over the next two weeks following a series of powerful quakes that have hit Sumatra island since Wednesday evening, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) said.Suharjono of the agency on Thursday warned residents, especially in Bengkulu, Padang and Jambi, to remain on the alert for more quakes and possible tsunamis.He said residents could expect quakes measuring around 5 on the Richter scale and centered at around a depth of 40 kilometers.Metro TV reported at least 31 temblors have hit Sumatra island in the last 17 hours, since a 7.9 magnitude earthquake jolted Bengkulu on Wednesday evening.
