JAKARTA :President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono installed Wednesday seven new ambassadors to represent Indonesia abroad, including the country's new envoy to the United Nations.
The other six envoys are destined for Lebanon, Egypt, Qatar, the Vatican, Bulgaria and Namibia.
R.M. Marty M. Natalegawa will lead the nation's diplomatic mission at the UN in New York, including taking up chairmanship of the Security Council in November. Marty had previously served as Indonesia's ambassador to the UK.
At the ceremony, held at the State Palace, the President also assigned R. Bagus Hapsoro as Indonesia's new ambassador to Lebanon, Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir to Egypt, and Rozy Munir to the Kingdom of Qatar.
Suprapto Martosetomo will meanwhile represent Indonesia at the Vatican, while Immanuel Robert Inkiriwang will serve as envoy to Bulgaria.
Leonardus Widayatmo will head Indonesia's diplomatic mission in the southern African nation of Namibia. (Urip Hudiono)
