SURABAYA (Antara): The Indonesian naval training ship, KRI Arung Samudra, which ran aground in waters off Queensland in Australia due to bad weather, will be towed to Brisbane for repairs after an Australian team has checked the ship's damage, a Navy spokesman said.
"Our defense attache in Australia, Col. Eden Gunawan, said the ship is now waiting to be towed to a shipyard in Brisbane," spokesman of the Indonesian Navy's Eastern Fleet Command Lt. Col. Toni Syaiful told Antara Wednesday.
The ship cast anchor in Wide Bay, Rainbow Beach, Queensland, last Thursday due to bad weather.
Toni said the ship would be towed to a dockyardas it had suffered damage that required immediate repairs. Its crew would be accommodated in Australian Navy barracks while waiting for completion of the repairs. (***)
