Referee wounded by KL police, RI withdraws from Asian Karate C'ship

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia withdrew Monday from the Asian Karate Championship in Malaysia to protest the beating of its referee by the Malaysian Police, Metro TV reported.

Indonesian referee Donald Peter Luther Kolopita was reportedly beaten by four Malaysian police officers on Sunday.

He returned home Monday with bruises all over his body. (***)
