Set up neighborhood watches to prevent kidnaps: RI First Lady

JAKARTA (Antara): Indonesian First Lady Ani Yudhoyono has called on parents in the country to set up "family or neighborhood watches" as a means to counter the current increase in kidnapping incidents.

"In view of the increasing frequency of kidnappings, I call on all parents to keep watch over their children more carefully by forming or initiating family or neighborhood watches," Ani Yudhoyono said before around 300 parents attending the peak event of World Breast Feeding Week at the State Palace on Monday.

The first lady said through family or neighborhood watches, parents would be able to watch over their children in their respective communities.

"Together, let's keep an eye on our children and report to the police whoever we see or hear something suspicious," Ani Yudhoyono said. (***)
