JAKARTA (Antara): Indonesia and New Zealand agreed Tuesday to enhance its cooperation in natural disaster management, including in handling earthquakes and floods, a minister said.
“We are focusing on cooperation in emergency disaster management, such as how to handle volcano eruption, tsunami, and flood,” Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono said after a meeting with New Zealand’s Trade and Defense Minister Phiil Goff in Jakarta.
He said that in the meeting, the New Zealand military forces said its intention to learn more about disaster management from Indonesia.
They said they were still lacking experiences in handling disasters and wanted to learn more from us, said Juwono. (**)
